Welcome to Code & Kopi

Welcome to Code & Kopi

Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I'm excited to launch Code & Kopi, a personal site that represents the intersection of two worlds I'm passionate about: technology and culture.

What's with the name?

If you're not familiar with the term, kopi is the Malay/Singaporean word for coffee. Through my wife, who is from Singapore and of Indian/Malay descent, I've developed a deep appreciation for the rich coffee culture that's integral to Southeast Asian life.

In Singapore, the local kopitiam (coffee shop) is more than just a place to grab a drink—it's a social hub where people gather, share stories, and build community. That's what I hope this site becomes: a digital kopitiam where I can share ideas, projects, and experiences.

What to expect

This site will serve a few purposes:

  • Portfolio: A home for my various projects and experiments
  • Blog: Thoughts on software development, cloud architecture, and cross-cultural experiences
  • Personal: A way to connect with friends, family, and fellow tech enthusiasts

Technical Details

For those interested, this site is:

  • Built with Node.js and Express
  • Containerized with Docker
  • Hosted on Google Cloud Run
  • Uses markdown for blog posts (no database needed!)
  • Designed with Tailwind CSS for a modern, responsive look

It's a simple setup that lets me focus on content rather than infrastructure.
